Correspondence from TVL is often misleading. For example::
"I have received authorisation from our National Division to visit your property... This visit will be the last step before legal proceedings may begin."
Although both of these statements are technically correct, neither can be taken at face value. The first implies that your local TVL office has had to escalate your case to the "National Division", who has granted permission for a visit to be performed. As the visit is to your home, no such permission is necessary (and in fact, if permission is necessary, you are the only party who can grant it). The second is qualified with a "may", and is accurate in that legal proceedings may or may not take place. However the overall tone of the letter ("visit without warning at any time", "interview you under caution", "comply with the law", etc) strongly implies that a court appearance is almost inevitable. Over a period of five months, we received four letters from a "Sarah Armstrong" claiming to be a:
Although it is possible that she was assigned a new post each month, the most likely explanation is that her job title is fictitious. Changing SignaturesThis site has uncovered some interesting discrepancies in TVL correspondence:
All three letters were sent by a "Val Smith", who has radically changed her signature every 12 months. Indeed, "Sarah Armstrong" has also changed her signature in the space of 1 month:
As has a "John Hales":
