About Us

In the middle of 2008, we decided not to renew our television licence.

We found ourself watching very little television, so put our TV on eBay and forgot all about it.

After our television licence expired, we received several phone calls and countless letters from TV Licensing - who appeared unable to understand that we did not own a television, so did not require a licence.

At the start of 2009 we decided to purchase a new television, for watching DVDs and playing video games.

We were led to believe by TVL that merely owning a television required us to purchase a licence, but some research showed this was not the case (the UK licence is a licence to watch, not a licence to own).

After discovering this fact, we decided to create this site to help address common misconceptions about the UK television licence.
